Second gouache portrait experiment I’d like to share with you. As a nice detail, I did a small illustration of Kasper from the back for the inside of the card. It was a fun experiment to get it in the right position. As Kasper was born in Oslo, we thought it would be nice to have a little Norwegian verse on the card, which means: “A small beginning to a big adventure” 🥰 . It took some logistical problem solving to get the proof print here in Norway. But with the help of Kasper’s amazing aunt, it was here on time. The actual cards got printed and send out by his overly proud grandparents in the Netherlands. So all went very well 👌🏽❤️ . Finally 🥁 I reveal to you 🥁 Kasper’s birth announcement card illustration!! 🥳❤️ (Scroll for some process pictures.) It took me a while to get the composition right and especially the color pallet. I had to discuss this with Niek as well of course 😉 as it still had to be OUR card. He has a lot of faith in me. We are both very happy with the final result! Finally 🥁 I reveal to you 🥁 Kasper’s birth announcement card illustration!! 🥳❤️ (Scroll for some process pictures.) It took me a while to get the composition right and especially the color pallet. I had to discuss this with Niek as well of course 😉 as it still had to be OUR card. He has a lot of faith in me. We are both very happy with the final result! And Kasper smiles at it too 🤩 so I think he likes it (I still need to frame it and hang it in his room…) . It’s been a long time since I’ve posted something… I wanted to do a “new years post” but al of a sudden it’s march 🫣 (#momlife I suppose?) . The past year was a rollercoaster🎢 A lot of extreme ups and extreme downs. So I am hoping for a more relaxed year ahead. To sum it up: I was pregnant, my father passed away, Niek and I became official partners, I quit my teaching job at the school I’ve been working for almost ten years, we moved to Oslo, Norway, found a nice apartment and finally little Kasper was born 🥰! A whole lot of emotional life changing events I’d say. So no wonder I’ve been away from instagram for a while… And with a baby there’s not much time for sketching and painting… (though I did some, as you can see in this post ☝🏽😊) . Life in Oslo has been really nice so far! We explored nature around Oslo. A lot of friends and family have been visiting us. I’ve met a lot of nice people; some urban sketchers and some great international moms and their little ones! 😄 . I hope I will be able to work on my portfolio the coming months and start creating a network around me. When Kasper goes to barnehagen (daycare) in August I can really start building up my illustration business here in Norway and the Netherlands.
